The beginning…

1920

Wallenborn Transports S.A. was founded back in 1920 by Metty Wallenborn. The idea was to be able to transport whatever needed transporting, both nationally and internationally.

In the 1920s, Luxembourg’s logistics and transportation landscape was shaped by its industrial growth, particularly in steel production, and its strategic position in Europe.

The rail network was crucial for transporting raw materials and finished goods. The Prince-Henri Railway (PH) operated several lines, including the Pétange–Dippach–Luxembourg route opened in 1900. By 1927, PH faced competition from the “Minette tram,” an intercommunal tramway serving the Esch-sur-Alzette region. Additionally, narrow-gauge railways connected various towns, facilitating both passenger and freight movement.
