New Office in Stockholm
2011
Wallenborn and its affiliate Haugsted AirCargo Services open an office at Stockholm Arlanda airport.
The office, located in the (then new) Spirit Aircargo Handling terminal at Arlanda airport was set up to co-ordinate services across Sweden on behalf of airlines, freight forwarders and cargo GSAs.

Between 2011 and 2015, Stockholm Arlanda Airport experienced significant growth and modernization in its logistics sector, reinforcing its position as a vital hub for air cargo in the Nordic region. In 2011 the airport handled approximately 117,178 tonnes of cargo from January to September, marking a 2.5% year-on-year increase. This included 68,808 tonnes of exports and 48,369 tonnes of imports. However, a slowdown was noted in September, attributed to broader economic challenges in Europe.
Swedavia initiated the development of Cargo City, a new center for air cargo and logistics located southwest of the airport. This area, covering approximately 144,400 m², was designed to enhance cargo handling capabilities and attract logistics companies. Plans were underway for Logistic City, a logistics area spanning one million square meters between the airport and the E4 motorway. This development aimed to provide facilities for warehousing, logistics operations, and manufacturing, further strengthening Arlanda’s logistics infrastructure.
From 2011 to 2015, Stockholm Arlanda Airport made substantial strides in enhancing its logistics capabilities. Through infrastructure investments, strategic partnerships, and increased cargo volumes, the airport solidified its role as a key logistics hub in Northern Europe.
