Lufthansa Cargo extends Fresh Partnership with Wallenborn
In 2023 Wallenborn embarked on a collaboration with Lufthansa Cargo, taking responsibility for the management of the airline’s European Fresh-to-Door distribution network centred around hubs in Brussels, Frankfurt, and Munich.
Given the time- and temperature-sensitive nature of these transported goods, a high degree of integration is essential between all stakeholders, including Health and Customs agencies, to ensure the integrity of each shipment is protected.
Luxembourg, 12.03.2025
Oliver Blum, the airline’s Head of Airmail, Courier & Perishables Handling, says the success of the partnership has led to Lufthansa Cargo extending its perishables contract with Wallenborn in 2025. “The decisive factors for this were the consistently high quality of operational implementation as well as the professional support for sensitive perishable shipments. The reliability of day-to-day business, the active service orientation, and the high degree of flexibility are all factors of central importance to Lufthansa Cargo and its international clientele. The latest contract extension underlines our mutual trust and forms the basis for continued successful cooperation,” he said.
An essential element of this highly successful collaboration is the close relationships Wallenborn has developed with consignors across the globe and consignees in many countries, including Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom. This ensures a high degree of flexibility and resilience, especially during high seasons, product launches and promotions. This collaboration includes workshops in origin counties, telematics access for importers to increase shipment visibility, and enhanced customer service for all parties. It’s an approach which is highly valued by importers such as Konrad Skowronski, Freight Manager at Agrotropic AG in Oberhasli, Switzerland, which imports sustainably cultivated cut flowers directly from farms overseas and is renowned for its extensive selection of premium roses. For Agrotropic, the essence of cultivation lies in the enduring long-term relationships they share with farms in countries such as Ecuador, Japan, Kenya, and Sri Lanka. “We regard Wallenborn as a provider of reliable service and clear communication. Our cut flowers are always in competent hands at Wallenborn, and we always feel well-informed and well cared for,” Frank said.

Wallenborn drives down emissions in U.A.E.
14.10.2019
Wallenborn’s trucks and trailers in Dubai have the lowest emission standard currently in place in the U.A.E.
Dubai, 14.10.2019
Wallenborn Transports launched in the U.A.E. back in February 2013 with its first office in Dubai. Its aim was to develop a range of land transport services in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.
This expansion was followed by Wallenborn’s observation that airlines and frequencies were growing in the Gulf states and spotting a trend toward higher frequencies of smaller aircrafts within the GCC.
A mere eight months later it opened a second local office, this time in Sharjah.
The launch in Sharjah was in response to fast growing demand for Wallenborn’s air cargo trucking services from airlines, forwarders and integrators across the U.A.E.

Driving with heart
10.09.2019
Wallenborn Scandinavia A/S partakes in a special trip with the “Hjerterytterne” or “Heart Riders”.
Denmark, 10.09.2019
Every year the Danish Heart Association’s cycling team cycles to raise funds for the Heart Association and the Children’s Heart Foundation in Denmark. Each rider finds donors to sponsor their season which culminates in a week-long trip somewhere outside the country. This year the final week was chosen to be in Todi, Italy. The team needed a trucking company to transport all the bicycles from Denmark to Italy and back again, and we were thrilled they selected Wallenborn Scandinavia A/S to do so. A full side opener, rollerbed trailer was used for the transport, and our excellent driver team was there to support the team every step of the way. Of course, Wally went along for the ride too!
Congratulations to all the cyclist for their efforts and driving positive change for so many people!

Wallenborn tests a fully electric terminal tractor

Wallenborn tests a fully electric terminal tractor
20.08.2019
Can a fully electric terminal tractor perform as well as the current diesel tractors?
Luxembourg, 20.08.2019
Over the years Wallenborn has made continuous efforts to reduce its environmental impact. As a trucking company, this is particularly important. As part of this continued initiative, we are currently testing a fully electric terminal tractor at Luxembourg’s Findel airport.
Terminal tractors are used for moving trailers within a cargo yard, warehouse facility, or intermodal facility. The advantage of using terminal tractors versus trucks to move the trailers from the docking stations to the parkings lies in the fact that it is easier and faster to connect the trailer. The automatic fifth wheel means articulated lorries can be hitched and lifted without drivers having to leave their seats. In addition, using pre-loaders optimises productivity in that the drivers can take their legal breaks during loading/unloading times.
At Wallenborn, terminal tractors are used exclusively by our pre-loaders, and operate 24/7/365. Approximately 100 trailers are loaded or unloaded every day in Luxembourg.
Advantages of a fully electric terminal tractor include very low noise levels compared with industrial and utility vehicles, and of course, they are more environmentally friendly. Traction capacity is the same as diesel powered ones, up to 44 tonnes.
Wallenborn currently operates 2 diesel run terminal tractors at Findel. Over the next few months several models of fully electric terminal tractors will be tested as potential replacements for the diesel powered vehicles. Luxair has been supporting the effort through the provision of charging facilities.
